The Dangerous Book Four Boys

Case study

In June 2010, the Clocktower Gallery - a historic alternative arts space in downtown Manhattan - presented the first solo exhibition of Film, Drawing, Photography, Installation, and Sculpture by James Franco. The opening was attending by over 400 guests, including renowned personalities in the film, music, and art worlds. The Clocktower hired Brand Bean to photograph the opening, and produce a high quality selection of images of both the exhibition and invited guests, without disrupting the intimate, VIP nature of the evening. The resulting photographs capture both candid and composed moments featuring artists, critics, and gallery staff and friends, as well as images of the art work, which ranged in media from large film projections to small works on paper.
